Tell the search engines you have a site in a different language

Having a site in a different language is good for Geo SEO and targeting a specific country. Ideally this would be on a separate domain such as slickmedia.fr but in many cases this isn’t practical so instead you can use a sub-domain such as fr.slickmedia.co.uk. If you opt to apply such a method then you can easily let the Search Engines know about the alternate language sites by adding the following to your site

<link rel=”alternate” href=”http://en.yoursitename.com” hreflang=”en” />
<link rel=”alternate” href=”http://de.yoursitename.com” hreflang=”de” />
<link rel=”alternate” href=”http://.fr.yoursitename.com” hreflang=”fr” />

All other languages can be directed to the default version of your website:

<link rel=”alternate” href=”http://yoursitename.com” hreflang=”x-default” />

Technically you can apparently also use a sub folder to achieve a similar effect. So in this case we could use slick media.co.uk/fr/ although its not foolproof and could confuse the spidering Search Engine robots.
